Henry O'Neill - Santa Fe Trail Trader
Henry O'Neill, a native of Ireland, first came from his home in
Boonville, Missouri to Santa Fe in 1844. For the next 40 years Henry
traveled throughout the West with Santa Fe as his home base. He
hauled goods across the Santa Fe Trail and sold them in his store on the
Santa Fe Plaza. A friend and colleague of some of the most notable
characters of the Santa Fe trade, Henry's story has been lost to history.
I've been researching Henry for over four years now and am writing a
book about his life and the footprints he left behind.
Joshua Brant and His Descendants
Colonel Joshua Brant, a War of 1812 veteran with over 25 years of
service in the Army, was one of the wealthiest and most influential men
in 19th century St. Louis, Missouri. Arriving in St. Louis in 1823, he
lived there until his death in 1861. His social and family connections
included Senator Thomas Hart Benton, General John Fremont, General
William Clark, and Governor James McDowell, to name a few. Joshua
Brant and his descendants are the subject of my Board for Certification
of Genealogists kinship project. I'm conducting in-depth research on
Joshua Brant and three generations of his descendants.
Listed below are some of my personal research projects. I welcome comments or
information from anyone interested in these projects.
WWII Submariners and Vietnam Era Seabees
I'm writing the life story of a Navy veteran who survived Pearl Harbor
then served on 12 wartime submarine patrols. He later served in the
Seabees in Europe and in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.
